The expansion of recovery ministries in the Christian community in the last couple of decades has been dramatic. Thousands of churches now have or are developing ministries to families who struggle with addictions, abuse and/or trauma. The SIRS program will provide participants the opportunity to learn best-practices for recovery ministry, to get help in exploring the biblical and theological foundations of recovery ministry and to develop competencies for working with people in the recovery process.
Our first annual weeklong intensive training opportunity will be held on the campus of Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA. Created to assist pastors, local recovery ministry leaders, lay leaders and others interested or involved in recovery treatment, we hope to bring an ecumenical group of passionate people together for encouragement, support and education. Join us as we seek to up the serve of the local church in this area of ministry.
Participants will be introduced to faculty and staff with experience and cutting edge knowledge of this rapidly changing field. Our faculty includes Dr. Joel Green, Dr. Richard Mouw, Dr. Dale Ryan, Dr. Matthew Russell and more. The week will be intense but nurturing as we network, support and learn from creative and tireless practitioners.
The cost will be about $500 for the week. Local lodging options will be reasonably priced as we have reserved some seminary housing for early responders. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. If you're interested in combining academic rigor with practical application and skill set development, you are definitely going to want to go to www.nacr.org and register now.
We’d also love to receive feedback about your specific needs. You can contact us via our Facebook page, sign up for our newsletter on our website, send us an email or call me personally (804.651.8768). I hope to see you next summer!
